Leadership Development for a software development company
Ariel Communications Ltd, a bespoke software development company was experiencing considerable expansion. Given this, a number of people had been promoted to management roles who whilst strong in technical skills had little or no leadership and management experience. As a result there were a number of people issues and managers were struggling to balance people and project management.
They approached us to develop a leadership programme that would build a skilled and effective leadership team
After meeting with key stakeholders and carrying out learning needs interviews with the team, we designed and five-month programme which was a combination of 1-day modules and action learning sets.
Module topics included:
- Managing for the future – key leadership and management models, tools and principles
- Managing time, planning and team meetings
- Improving communications and resolving conflict
- Managing performance and delegation
- On the job coaching and training
The action learning sets ran along-side the programme , occurring once a month.
Managing Director Simon Barnes sums up the programme impact below:
“We appointed J9W to develop a bespoke management development programme for our senior managers and team leaders, many of whom had little or no previous management experience. Janine and her team created a cost-effective, comprehensive and fun programme which was well received by all who attended. Our staff particularly liked the practical tools and techniques presented at each session which they were immediately able to make use of in their work. This toolkit of management skills, combined with the opportunity to feedback on their experiences in subsequent training sessions, ensured that the learning quickly became embedded in our organisation. For me, it was the most useful programme I’ve ever attended.”
